(( This is the first chapter of my NaNoWriMo project. It's a little late, so it's kind of thrown-together. I'm trying to catch up. >///>;

Chapter 1: Forming a plan.
"So let me get this straight," said a strong dark-haired man, leaning back in his chair, "You want me to sneak into a... government building?"
"It's a prison." corrected the short man at the opposite end of the table. He was almost completely hidden underneath his dark cloak, save for the pale skin that showed from his nose to his chin.
"A prison..." repeated the first man, "You said it's the Third Level of the JAX research facility... I thought that was a research center." The cloaked man was entirely unamused by this. "Prison," he corrected again, "They won't let her leave. Not until their experiments show some type of results."
The dark-haired man cast his blue eyes over the table that divided him. Results, he thought. He glanced at the man, and he caught a glimpse of a lock of red hair, which was promptly tucked back into his hood. He said, "How do you know they won't let her leave?" The man rustled his hood and said, "They let her call."
"They don't monitor calls?"
He jostled his hood again, then he said, "They do. She didn't say nothin' super bad though. Just told me that she wants to come home, an' said at this rate, she's gonna be like Grandma Miriam soon, I heard her laugh a little."
"Grandma Miriam?"
"Grandma Miriam's dead."
The dark haired man frowned in displeasure, and he turned his head away to look through the smoky room at the clock hung on the wooden wall amongst trophies and bottles and oddities. The cloaked man bit his lip, then he said, "Please, Mr. Locke." He started rifling through his coat. "Storm," replied the dark-haired man, "I don't go by Mr. Locke." The cloaked man chuckled quietly and retrieved a small weighted burlap sack that was about as big as his hand. "Please, Storm," he corrected. Storm quirked an eyebrow at the bag. "That mine?" he asked. The cloaked man gave a crooked grin and said, "Your payment." He tossed it onto the table, and the drawstring fell open enough to flash the top layer of the shining Hix.
"You've got my attention," Storm said finally. The cloaked man grinned and said, "I thought that'd do it." Then he swept the bag back closer to himself and he leaned back in his chair comfortably. He exhaled deeply, and he paused for just a moment.

"My sister is currently being kept in the sixth floor of the JAX facility, the Third Level... blue floor, I think she said. The first two floors are just offices, and I think you could get through there just fine. The third and fourth floor are the chemical testing labs. Five and six are the research labs. She hasn't told me what's above that though, and she probably can't, them bastards are real secretive like that.
"The first two floors should be easy enough to get into. Civilians pass through there all the time. Take off that pauldron you got and you can just walk on through to the stairs. There's an elevator on the second floor, civies like us aren't allowed to go near it, and even the workers can't go in without an escort. I don't know the way from there, you'll have to figure that out for yourself." Storm frowned, then he glanced up toward the lovely, dark-skinned, wide-built barmaid, who was wiping down a glass. "Gisele," he called. She just smiled at him and said, "Simmer down, Stormy, your drink's coolin'."
He looked back at the cloaked man, who was fiddling with the drawstring of the bag of Hix. "So, I'm gonna have to figure it out on my own," he said, "Then I'm gonna have to be paid a little bit more." The cloaked man laughed at him, then said, "Of course. You thought that this was all?" Storm sneered and said, "I thought you thought so." The cloaked man snorted and said, "That would be disrespectful, wouldn't it?"
Storm leaned forward and rested his elbows on the table, then he asked, "If civilians can't even get to the elevator, how're you suggesting I get somebody out?" The cloaked man shook his head, and he said, "If you want to be paid extra, you'll have to figure the rest out on your own." Storm laughed and said, "That shouldn't be a problem."
A moment later, Gisele brought two steaming bluish-violet drinks over to the table on a tray, then returned to the counter. Both men remained silent until the steam had vanished, then they both cheered glasses and took a sip of the sweet drink.

"Is it a deal, then?" The cloaked man slid the bag across the table to Storm, who took it into his hands. He tossed it between his hands for a few minutes, then he decided that the bag did seem to contain the specified amount Hix, or at least something close to it. He drew the string tightly and tied it into a knot, and said, "Yeah. I'll do it."
